The secret to POR-15® lies in the POR-15® curing process. Unlike "paint",When you paint over rust with POR-15®it cures by drawing moisture from the atmosphere. Paint, on the other hand, cures through the process of solvent evaporation through pores (that's why you can smell a paint job for weeks). Those same pores allow microscopic amounts of air and moisture to gradually reach the surface of the painted metal and rust appears.

As you know, if ordinary paint goes unwaxed for very long, rust will form right through it! But POR-15® doesn't have those pores, and thus moisture and oxygen cannot reach the metal surface, and therefore no rust can occur. POR-15® is the permanent way to stop rust.

POR-15® can also eliminate stone chips while you at it. POR-15® is so tough, that some folks describe it as "Powder coat in a can." Use it on your chassis, and you'll be suprised as how little effect gravel roads have on the finish. In fact, off-road enthusiasts and dirt bike racers use it on their frames and under-carrages, where NO "paint" can survive.
